Coordinator's Message

FSO Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians, and the Community of Lakewood,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!

Let me begin by thanking each of you who graciously supported our schools and students this past May. The FSO staff and I sincerely thank you and appreciate your continued commitment to our students and the Franklin School of Opportunity.

This year, our district theme, “Lakewood Together,” reminds us of the incredible things we can accomplish when we work toward a common purpose. At FSO, together is more than a theme—it reflects who we are and how we support each student who walks through our doors.

Being Lakewood Together means creating a community where students, staff, families, and community members feel valued, supported, and connected. It means communicating openly, collaborating with one another, thinking critically and creatively, leading with empathy, and approaching challenges with a growth mindset. It also means recognizing that every individual brings unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives that make our school and our Lakewood community stronger.

At FSO, we know there is not one pathway to success. Our commitment is to meet students where they are, help them recognize their potential, and provide the opportunities, encouragement, and support they need to move forward. When we work together—students, educators, families, and community partners—we create a sense of belonging and remind every student that they are an important part of Lakewood.

As we begin this new school year, I encourage each of us to lift one another up, celebrate our collective accomplishments, embrace new opportunities, and continue building a positive and inclusive culture where everyone can thrive.

I am excited about what lies ahead for FSO and grateful to begin another year alongside all of you.
